Badger Walkover Surveys

Badger setts and the network of tunnels can be up to 30 m long, as such access to off-site areas may be required.

Badger surveys aim to identify and map any badger setts, or evidence of badgers such as latrines, footprints, feeding signs and hairs within the site to inform any necessary mitigation.

The site walkover can be undertaken at any time of the year, but dense vegetation may limit visibility in some areas, as such, winter, early spring and late autumn are considered the optimal survey period.

In some cases, motion censored cameras may be required, on site to monitor activity around the sett to assess occupancy.
